Youth Development Unit Policies

The Seaview Renegades Youth Development Unit is the foundation of our program, designed to guide, mentor, and empower youth to achieve their full potential. Participation in this unit is mandatory for all members who wish to join the Performing Arts Division or the Marching Band.

General Policies

  1. Mandatory Enrollment – All members must be active participants in the Youth Development Unit to qualify for the Marching Band or Performing Arts.

  2. Respect and Discipline – Members must treat mentors, youth advocates, and peers with respect at all times.

  3. Attendance – Members are required to attend scheduled development sessions in addition to rehearsals and performances.

  4. Commitment to Growth – Members must actively engage in self-improvement, mentorship activities, and assigned tasks.

  5. Confidentiality – Personal matters discussed with mentors or youth advocates must remain private and respected.

  6. No Discrimination or Bullying – The program maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying, discrimination, or harassment.

  7. Code of Conduct – Members of the Youth Development Unit are subject to the same Code of Conduct and Disciplinary System (demerits, suspensions, and board review) as the rest of the organization.

Subsections of the Youth Development Unit

1. Academic Development

  • Members will be assigned academic mentors to support learning, tutoring, and educational growth.

  • Members must set and work toward personal academic goals.

  • School attendance and performance reports may be reviewed (with member consent) to guide mentorship.

  • Members must complete assigned study sessions or workshops as scheduled.

2. Career Development

  • Members will be paired with career mentors to explore career paths, skill-building, and professional readiness.

  • Participation in workshops, training sessions, and career talks is mandatory.

  • Members are encouraged to complete résumés, practice interviews, and develop career action plans.

  • Professional behavior is expected when interacting with external partners, mentors, or sponsors.

3. Personal Development

  • Members will work with youth advocates to receive guidance on personal growth, leadership, and social responsibility.

  • Sessions may cover life skills, conflict resolution, health awareness, and positive decision-making.

  • Members must actively participate in community outreach and service projects where applicable.

  • Members are expected to demonstrate respect, empathy, and teamwork in all interactions.
